Hair Growth with PDO Threads, Microneeding, and PRF

PDO (polydioxanone) threads have been used in aesthetic medicine for years for rejuvenation of skin, skin tightening, skin lifting, and wrinkle reduction. PDO threads have been used in surgeries since the 1980s. They’re made from a colorless polyester that breaks down in your body in about 6 months. Hair regrowth in patients with hair loss from androgenetic alopecia has been observed in patients who had PDO threads inserted into their scalps.

Our specialized PDO thread hair growth solution combines:

  • Microneedling

  • PRF Injections

  • PDO Mono (Smooth) Threads

We have offered Microneedling with PRF to stimulate hair growth on the scalp for years, but we now have an even better and more effective service option, by offering PDO threads. Research has shown that PDO threads may cause increased hair regrowth from an average of 65 to 93 hair follicles per centimeter. That’s quite an increase in regrowth.

PRF is taken from your own blood. Prior to the treatment, vial(s) of blood is drawn. Next, the blood is placed inside a centrifuge designed to separate PRF from other blood components. PRF is prepared by spinning the tubes at a lower speed and isolating the platelets and white blood cells from the red blood cells. This method allows for a higher platelet concentration and maintains the fibrin matrix without any anticoagulants. After spinning, the PRF is harvested from the top of the vial into a syringe.

PRF for Hair Restoration

Hair loss effects men and women and is a normal part of the aging process. Certain factors can influence the rate that hair loss occurs, such as genetic predispositions, alopecia areata, and stress. Hair restoration with platelet-rich fibrin PRF is a cutting-edge procedure used for patients who do not want surgery. Platelet-Rich-Fibrin (PRF) hair restoration is a new, non-surgical treatment that uses cell growth factors to regenerate and restore the inactive hair follicle through wound-healing technology. These specific growth factors are essential in tissue regeneration and healing.

Using PRF on the Scalp for Hair growth

The patient’s scalp that requires treatment will be numbed using a topical anesthetic to make the treatment essentially painless. Once the PRF is separated, it will be strategically injected into the areas of the scalp where hair loss/ thinning has occurred. It may also be combined with microneedling treatment to evenly disperse the PRF. When the procedure is over, the patient can leave and immediately go back to their normal daily activities.

The hair follicles treated with PRF will immediately be reinvigorated and begin to grow new hair. The hair will strengthen and become thicker. Hair growth is a slower process, and results can be seen within three to six months.
