PDO Threads

A Polydioxanone (PDO) thread lift is a revolutionary newer treatment in the world of aesthetics. PDO threads themselves have been used safely for decades for various applications, like treating gynecological disorders or suturing incisions after medical procedures.
As an aesthetic treatment, PDO threads:

  • Result in instant skin lifting

  • Contract fat tissue to result in immediate skin tightening

  • They promote collagen production and neovascularization to renew your skin at the cellular level.

These benefits work together to give you enhanced skin texture, more elastic skin, and fewer fine lines and wrinkles. PDO threads have been used in surgeries since the 1980s. They’re made from a colorless polyester that breaks down in your body in about 6 months. The presence of PDO threads in your skin trigger cells in your body called fibroblasts to produce more collagen. Collagen is the protein that gives your skin its structure and elasticity. Loss of collagen happens to everyone and is part of the aging process.

There are three types of PDO threads

  • Mono Threads. Smooth sutures that help rejuvenate your skin by stimulating collagen production.

  • Cog Threads. These threads have barbs that latch into your skin like small fishhooks, to provide support and lift parts of your face.

  • Screw Threads. Made up of one or two intertwined threads, these are used to help restore volume to sunken parts of your skin.

How long does a PDO thread lift last?

PDO threads typically provide results for 1 to 4 years. Younger people tend to have results that last 3 to 4 years. Older people with poor skin volume or elasticity tend to only see benefits for 1 to 2 years.
